President Novák condemns Russian aggression in Ukrainian TV program


Hungary and Hungarians stand with the innocent victims of the war in Ukraine, ‘all we want is peace,’ President Katalin Novák said on Sunday in a video broadcast as part of a broadcast fundraiser on Ukrainian television.

In the message broadcast on the only functional Ukrainian television channel on Sunday evening and posted on Facebook on Monday, Novák said that Hungary “clearly condemns the Russian aggression and the armed invasion of Ukraine. We demand the investigation of all war crimes and plead[d] for adequate punishment on those who committed these barbaric acts against humanity.

Hungary remains committed to providing safe haven for the more than 700,000 refugees who have entered the country, she said. “We will continue to care for the injured, deliver food to those left behind, provide education for children… and provide families with a roof over their heads, food and work for as long as needed,” she said.

The video was released during the Save Ukraine – StopWar charity event, alongside messages from Heads of State and Government of Albania, Latvia, Austria, Slovenia, North Macedonia and the United Kingdom. United.
