iOS 15.6 update adds new TV app feature and fixes several bugs

Apple released iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6 updates today. The first fixes several bugs that have been present since the launch of iOS 15.5 a few months ago. It also introduces a new feature on the TV app. Find out why you should update below.

  • iOS 15.6 update fixes storage and Safari tab bugs.
  • Apple is adding TV app functionality when watching live sports.
  • Issues with the iOS dock and the Books app have also been fixed.

What’s new with iOS 15.6?

Unlike iOS 15.5 which brought a handful of new features, iOS 15.6 focuses on ironing out major software bugs. The update includes fixes on the storage bug as well as Safari. It has already been noticed that the settings would show a storage full notification even if there is still availability. Additionally, this release also fixed the Safari issue where a tab was reversed.

More importantly, users facing crashing Books app might finally find relief with this update. Apple is also fixing a certain bug on the iOS dock. It has been reported before that installing the Music app will cause the Spotify app to be removed from the dock. This has now been resolved along with the issues for compatible Braille devices experiencing slowdown when browsing the Mail app.

In terms of features, the TV app will now add the ability to fully restart a live sports match. Users will have the option to pause, forward or rewind the streamed video. You can find it under the Watch Now tab of the app.

  • The TV app adds the ability to restart a live sports game already in progress and pause, rewind or fast forward.
  • Addresses an issue where Settings may continue to show that device storage is full even though it is available.
  • Addresses an issue that may cause Braille devices to become slow or unresponsive when navigating through text in Mail.
  • Fixes an issue in Safari where a tab may jump back to a previous page.

The update is available for iPhone 6 and later. This could be the penultimate major software release before the public version of iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 arrive. Alternatively, the public beta tester can now download iOS 16.
