New updates are added at the bottom of this story…….
The original story (published August 11, 2021) follows:
Spectrum TV offers a number of sports packages, including a $5 per month sports package that includes 13 standard channels like ESPN, NBA, and NFL Redzone.
The main advantage of Spectrum TV is that it offers a comprehensive selection of regional sports and out-of-market games. Only the NFL Sunday Ticket, which is currently an AT&T exclusive, is missing.
But perhaps the biggest benefit of the service is that it offers free access to the Spectrum TV app with any Spectrum TV plan. The app basically lets you turn any device into a TV that can stream Spectrum.
You can even cast from your phone or tablet to a Chromecast-enabled TV on Android.
Anyway, the Spectrum TV app hasn’t been doing very well lately and that’s pretty clear from several reports of its users on Twitter. Some of these reports have been given below.
@BallySportsSD is seeing a lot of random frame drops, audio drops and other issues. Happens on Spectrum channel 61 and on the app.
Are you aware that for the past two days your show is scanning or freezing during games. On the Spectrum app, we are currently not getting any signal. @BallySportsSD doesn’t care. If they did they would fix it today
Some users say Spectrum TV app crashed and not working at all. Opening it results in prompts to wait for a particular time, a time that has already passed.
Others are a little luckier and manage to get the app to work, but with a lot of lag and choppy playback on channels like Bally Sports and others.
The issues aren’t just visual as several subscribers have also noted audio issues such as the sound breaking up occasionally.
Still, if you are one of the Spectrum TV subscribers for whom the app is not working or crashing, you will be relieved to know that a fix is on the way.
As evident from the above, Bally Sports and Spectrum are making a concerted effort to restore the streaming service to normal.
That way, you probably won’t have to wait much longer and the issues will soon be fixed either by an app update or automatically if they’re server-related.
