Globe and ABS-CBN launch interactive TV channel

MANILA, Philippines – The Globe Group and ABS-CBN will begin airing the country’s first multi-screen, real-time interactive television channel called PIE (Pinoy Interactive Entertainment) next week.

Globe and ABS-CBN said the channel will give the traditional viewing experience a digital upgrade starting May 23.

It will be accessible to 11 million digital TV households in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Zamboanga, Naga, Baguio and neighboring provinces via partner station BEAM.

Cory Vidanes, COO of ABS-CBN, said PIE will introduce a new type of viewing experience that combines the strengths of content and technology.

She said the shows aired on the channel are aimed at the young and the young at heart.

“We have made our programs interactive so that viewers can participate via TV and mobile devices, as we believe they are an integral part of the PIE. Get ready for 21 hours of fun game shows, talent shows and of varieties, series and talk shows every day on this new entertainment channel,” said Vidanes.

To celebrate its launch, PIE is offering 10 million pesos in cash prizes to viewers for three months from its launch date.

“Filipinos yearn for collective enjoyment, and PIE hopes to fill that gap,” said KROMA Entertainment CEO Ian Monsod.

KROMA is an entertainment company owned by 917Ventures Retirement Fund and backed by the digital ecosystem of the Globe group of companies.

On PIE, viewers become not just viewers, but a well-engaged community that takes an active role in storytelling, game shows and talk shows. Whether on their TVs, laptops, desktops or mobile devices, PIE is accessible to Filipinos who want to try a new way to consume and play with the shows they love,” said Monsod.
