Attention cable cutters: the Apple TV app is now available on Nvidia Shield players


If you’re an Nvidia Shield user looking forward to diving into Ted Lasso, For All Mankindor other Apple TV+ shows, good news: the Apple TV app is now supported on Nvidia’s streaming video players, and it will also work with other Android TV devices.

Available today for Nvidia Shield and Shield Pro, the Apple TV app includes access to Apple TV+ and Apple’s original program slate, including Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, For All Mankind, The Mosquito Coast, Mythic Quest, and Dickensonas well as movies like Cherry, Palmer, and doggy style.

You can also rent or buy movies from iTunes as well as buy TV episodes, while Apple TV Channels offer paid access to premium streaming services like AMC+, Paramount+ and Starz.

The Apple TV app on Nvidia shield players will support both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, not to mention 4K video resolution.

You will be able to use Google Assistant to control Apple TV playback on Shield streaming players. For example, you can ask the Assistant to search for a specific movie or pause the video.

In addition to Nvidia’s Shield devices, the Apple TV app is now available for the “Android TV OS ecosystem” in general, including Android TV streaming devices from Xiaomi and TCL and Hisense TV, reports 9to5Google.

The $150 Nvidia Shield and $200 Shield Pro already feature most major streaming apps, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max, and Peacock.

The Apple TV app, meanwhile, has made its way to a variety of third-party devices, including Amazon Fire TV and Roku streaming players (such as Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and Roku Express 4K+), Chromecast with Google TV and on LG, Samsung, Sony and Vizio TVs. Apple TV is also available on latest and current PlayStation and Xbox game consoles, including PlayStation 4 and 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S.
