The Oakland Athletics and Philadelphia Phillies will kick off their 2022 season at Citizens Bank Park on Friday, April 8. The A’s are coming off three straight playoff games, but thanks to deep ownership dismantling, there’s almost no chance the streak will reach four. As for the Phillies, they are trying again to end a playoff drought that dates back to 2011.

This Opening Day kickoff match will feature Frankie Montas and Aaron Nola. You can find the full 2022 MLB Opening Day schedule here. Information on the A’s vs. Phillies, including live stream details, is below.

A vs. Phillies

Dated: Friday April 8 | Time: 3:05 p.m. ET
Location: Citizens Bank Park — Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Direct: fuboTV (Try for free) | TV: NBC Sports California, NBC 10 Philadelphia
Probable Pitchers: RHP Frankie Montas (OAK) vs. RHP Aaron Nola (PHI)

As: The A’s, whose owners these days are mostly engaged in corporate welfare for a new ballpark in Oakland or Las Vegas, have all but guaranteed the team a final spot in the AL West thanks to a nearly complete roster teardown. Matt Olson, Matt Chapman, Chris Bassitt and Sean Manaea left in the name of cutting payrolls to the bare minimum. Even Bob Melvin, one of baseball’s best managers, was let go. Next to go could be Opening Day starter Frankie Montas.

Phillies: The Phillies continue to try to clinch a playoff berth while reigning MVP Bryce Harper is still in his prime. This winter they made notable additions like Nick Castellanos and Kyle Schwarber. While the team’s defense should remain a significant shortcoming, the Phillies should also boast having one of the strongest rosters in the NL.
